| Custom Gate - Cedar - This gate was challenging for several reasons ... it was fairly wide ... was to have no protective finish ... it had a radius top and it was nearly 3" thick ... The Homeowner had a specific design for us to meet - We first made a template of the shape for approval where the owner had further input regarding the thickness. The radius top had to be laminated and to protect the lamination we steam bent a plate for a cover. The slats were mortised into the rails and toe-nail galvanized-screwed. The rails were then bolted to the main posts and plugged. It was very sturdy but light weight. We used a High-Grade Cedar for the material. |
